The Heart Ward - Poetry in Performance

IMG_8629.JPG

This project, The Heart Ward, written by award-winning writer Max Hafler  was performed in the Galway Theatre Festival on May 8th/9th for three performances, work9ing largely with the principles of Michael Chekhov, a way of putting our training skills into practise!.
The play charts a stay in his local hospital with heart failure, explores advocacy and dealing with the hospital system. In doing so, the poems contrast his experience now, with his birth and early childhood, with the condition spina bifida occulta.

Check out the workshop and production  photos below and a short film made by  Golden Hoops Films which talks about the piece as well as something of our work with chekhov Training and Performance Ireland. We hope to revive the play later in the year.
